Novem - shipment control – Phoron.scan

Novem supplies vehicle manufacturers across the world with decorative wooden trims. Delivery is carried out using ‘just in time’ service for speciality shipments. Because no buffer stock is available for customers, it is particularly important to ensure that the correct packages for the shipment are loaded sequentially. The error rate that customers will tolerate is of the order of ppm.

Key points:

  • Connection of barcode scanners to the SAP Netweaver system using WLAN
  • Validation of packages
  • Status management and tracking of packages

Novem - intercompany business

Novem’s products – decorative wooden trims for cars – are produced in a multi-stage process in a number of plants in several European countries as well as overseas. Because individual steps in the process are carried out in different locations, within Novem there are a large number of sales and purchasing transactions.

The objective of this project is optimized management of this supply chain.

Key points:

  • IC business through ALE
  • Supply chain monitoring
  • Management of complaints and empties

Novem – web interface for processing manufacturing orders

Simple and flexible processes are particularly important to Novem’s development department. SAP standard transactions have proven themselves to be too complex to use for the often very simple procedures. A more flexible web application was needed to provide users with a simple, fast solution for building prototypes, which would both record their manufacturing orders in the system as well as provide feedback on work progress of the orders.

Key points:

  • A web portal on SAP NetWeaver was implemented, the data for which is available on the backend R3 system
  • Authorized project managers can create manufacturing orders and amend, delete or insert processes
  • A tool that provides a detailed breakdown of time and cost for analyzing manufacturing orders is also available via the web portal
  • To provide feedback, terminals are available to users for entering times on worksheets via a barcode scanner in the system
